Professional Certificate of the Specialist in Traditional Culture

In 2011 the Estonian Qualifications Authority gave the rights to CIOFF® Estonia to serve as an awarding body of professional certificate of the Specialist in Traditional Culture. Awarding of professional qualifications is the assessment of conformity of the professional competence of a person applying for a professional qualification with the requirements specified in the professional standard.

The Specialist in Traditional Culture has to support and guide the complete development of personality through its activities and to safeguard the preservation and sustainability of cultural heritage, both intangible and material. The Specialist in Traditional Culture can work in cultural
or educational organisation, local municipality, non-profit organisation etc. Popular job descriptions
are: teacher, group leader, musician, specialist in dance, craftsman, storyteller, cultural manager etc.

In the first round there were 10 applicants with different backgrounds, such as musicians, teachers, cultural managers, craftsmen (including masters in musical instrument making), folklore group leaders, folklore bearers. All of them had to show their very good skills in at least one area of traditional culture and to pass interviews and valuations of the experts.

First certificates were handed over in March 2012 during the Annual Meeting of CIOFF® Estonia.
